Duke Fertility Center supports everyone who wishes to build their family. We have a comprehensive program with open access to our cutting-edge fertility treatment methods to help gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer couples have the family of your dreams.

To begin the process, you will have an initial consultation with your fertility specialist to discuss options for your personalized care.
Some LGBTQ+ family planning requires third-party reproductive services in the form of egg donors, sperm donors or gestational carriers (surrogates). Our team of fertility specialists will help guide you through the process, answer your questions and support your goals along the way.
Gay Fertility Options - Male Same-Sex Family Building
The path to family building for same-sex male couples involves a gestational carrier, also known as a surrogate, and an egg donor. Sperm is used from either of the partners or a donor. The partner that is providing the sperm will undergo routine fertility testing. The sperm is then used to fertilize donor eggs in the lab and placed in the gestational carrier’s uterus.
To begin your journey, you will meet with an infertility specialist and discuss your plans. However you choose to grow your family, Duke Fertility Center is here to support you in your journey to becoming parents.
Lesbian Fertility Options - Female Same-Sex Family Building
Family planning for same-sex female couples includes intrauterine insemination (IUI), also known as artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization (IVF) and the use of a sperm donor.
